Do you ever have one of those moments where you just completely fall in love with an item of clothing and all the potential it could have? That was me, way back in early December.
I was shooting with a friend of mine, Poppy, for a uni project of hers, and along with her, the camera and the lighting, she brought a huge suitcase of clothes – one of which, was this red dress. It was one of the first outfits I wore for the project, and though we spent the rest of the entire weekend shooting other outfits, this dress simply wouldn’t leave my mind.
Prior to taking the photos, Poppy had left the clothes at mine overnight and so, doing what any other fashion blogger would, I decided to try the dress on to see what other items I could pair it with. I immediately knew it would work incredibly well with my H&M fluffy coat – and boy did it… When the time came, I begged Poppy to let me wear the dress and coat for some photos, and the results were better than I could have imagined.
The Brooke Star Wrap Tea Dress is nothing short of amazing. If you follow me Twitter you’ll know that I’m fairly stubborn in my belief that pretty dresses aren’t comfortable, and comfortable dresses that aren’t pretty – this is the dress that has my mind changed.
The material is nothing short of pyjama-level comfiness, whilst the cut is one of the most flattering looks on my body type, giving this dress a high effort look with minimal effort given. I felt so incredible in it, much like the one I got from New Look it felt and looked like it fit my body perfectly.
But a dress is only as good as the items you pair it with, right? I decided to wear some of my nude heels, also from New Look, to give the look a little bit of elevation.
I’ve been really into faux fur coats recently, they’re incredibly warm and despite adding about 100lbs to you in photos the style they give is worth it. The dress was already extremely slimming, and so adding the visual weight of the fluffy coat added a whole new dimension to the outfit – giving it a slight Gatsby vibe, whilst still staying very simple in nature.

The outfit was also a lot more colourful than most I normally wear, I mean you’ve only got to give a scroll of my blog to see that I’m very much into my muted colours. I’ve never been sure if I can fully pull off the bold look, but with how comfy the whole setup was, I was certainly going to give it a go, and I feel like it paid off.
note: H&M no longer sell the coat I am wearing so I have linked a similar one
