My top picks for Winter 2017 ft. Pretty Little Thing

A couple of weeks ago I was approached by Pretty Little Thing, a UK based mid-range fashion brand, asking if I would like to have a browse of their new Jeans & Knitwear range, to pick out some of my favourites to try.

Pretty Little Thing is probably one of the most iconic/popular brands on Instagram these days. Known widely for their party dresses, general super shiny fashion vibes, and always being on the very top of fashion trends. But did you know that they do other clothes too? More specifically; Knitwear and Jeans!?

Yep, two of my favourite things in the whole world, so when they approached me I jumped with joy, snapping their fingers off at the opportunity. So here they are, my top picks of their brand new ranges:

The first item of clothing I chose was their mid-wash sports striped skinny jean – they’re absolutely nothing like something id usually wear, and I think that might just be why I love them so much.

Blue jeans, with a red stripe. I’ve never really been a blue jeans kinda person, always opting for black or a faded colour, but these caught my interest. The red stripe was interesting and despite them not being high waisted, I liked them. Pairing them up, however, was a little trickier than I expected

They gave me somewhat of a retro vibe and I wanted to play with that and create somewhat of a 90’s sporty look – however in my excitement of this idea I forgot that they weren’t high waisted and when paired with my crop top of choice it exposed a lot of my stomach, which I was not only uncomfortable with but also it wasn’t very winter friendly. I have since changed my mind and have been wearing these with an oversized jumper for a casual ‘sporty’ vibe, and I’m loving how they look.
Still, I appreciate the overall vibe of the photos and if I were more comfortable with my belly you might see this outfit again sometime next summer!

Next up are my two favourite items – the red ribbed cropped knitted jumper, and PLT’s Tatjana frill hem straight leg jeans, in black – of course.

These jeans make me feel amazing, I’m not even sure quite what it is as this kind of fit and flare is completely new to me. They just seem to have this ability to transform any outfit into something truly special, adding a whole new dimension to the classic knitted jumper and jeans. I’ve always been a big fan of the look on other people, but never been able to experience it for myself.

The only flaw in this outfit, and in no fault of Pretty Little Thing, was the shoes I picked out. I was going for too many vibes I’ve seen on instagram, rather than sticking to one and keeping it simple. The shoes seen in their product photography (…you’ll have to go to their site to check it out) are absolutely perfect, and I will be looking to get some for myself, but for this outfit the shoes I chose were close – but no ball, but all learning is good learning, and now I know for next time I bring out what are now my favourite jeans.

Next up, a classic pairing, though with almost-hidden details to make any fashion-lover drool. The top is PLT’s Rosalina stone off-the-shoulder crop jumper, paired with their new black ring-pull slim leg jeans.

I’ll start with the top – Now, I’ve never really been one for off the shoulder tops, as they tend to be more effort [to keep up] than they’re worth, but when I saw this online, I knew I had to get it. There’s something very vintage about both the look of the material, and the colour. Something timeless. Something I, desperately, wanted in my wardrobe.

The jeans however, these are where the outfit gets exciting for me. Two very simple details, that are easy to miss, but are subtly elegant and add a new level to the look. The ring pull is what sold me on the jeans, the circular design just adds that little bit of detail, whilst keeping things simple. Then there’s the side-panels, a very gently darker shade of jean to the rest, which both visually slim the body, but also adds shape and dimension to the jean. Both together, as well as the cut being lovely, make for jeans that whilst may seem the norm from a difference, are beautiful up close.

Oversized cardigans have always and will always be my jam. The fact that you can pair them with pretty much anything is great, I love it! PLT’s Yazmine grey chunky knit wrap cardigan is going to very quickly become a mainstay of my daily attire, as it’s just so perfect in almost every way. A feature I love is it having 3/4 length sleeves, making it a perfect transition piece for those days where the weather cant make up its mind. It’s both cuddly, and almost semi-smart, meaning I could quite happily wear it along to meetings and the like and feel more than adequately dressed. In other words, it’s hella versatile, and I love it.

…and that’s it! At least, for now. There are far too many items in their new range that I’ve fallen for, and can see myself purchasing quite a few more items in the near future, which you will no doubt get to see. There’s a lot to like about the new range, and hopefully, this post will give you a little glimpse of what they have to offer.

I was super excited for this post, if you can’t tell that already, being one of the largest collaborations I’ve been a part of to date. The brand is one I’ve always admired, and working alongside them has been just fab – so, if you wouldn’t mind, please make sure to go and have a look, t’is the season to wear jumpers, and I know they’ll have something that you’re going to fall in love with, as have I.

Here’s a handy-dandy link to both their Knitwear and Jean ranges on their site!
