Styling a Hunkemöller Bodysuit

“Every woman is beautiful. It just takes the right lingerie to emphasise the beauty that you already have”

– Pamela Reif

I was gifted this gorgeous Hunkemöller bodysuit to do a post all about their new collaboration with Pamela Reif – A German fashion blogger. This is her very first lingerie collection which, when designing, her goal was for every woman to feel breathtaking.

I was given my choice of all the items in the collection and chose the Niamh Body along with the Velvet Makeup Bag as my first idea included dressing up the body for a night out. Thinking that the makeup bag would make for the perfect clutch. I was so right. It took me a few combinations to get it right but I eventually got there and these are the results…

My vision was as if I was going on a night out. Underwear as outerwear. A trend that I have loved for years. The thing is when taking what would normally be a standalone feature piece, and wrapping it in the surroundings of an outfit, is choosing your other items extremely carefully. I had originally paired the Hunkermöller lingerie with a cute skirt I bought from Forever 21, it too was black, but the bit of leg that was showing somehow distracted from what I wanted to be the feature – the body suit.

Everything you wear with a feature piece has to support it. Too drab, they look out of place being seen with it, too much, it distracts. I settled on my go-to black skinny jeans from Primark as a basic way to accentuate the velvet texture of the body, and then wore my River Island heels to add just that touch of ‘i’m going out’ to the outfit.

Jeans and shoes alone, however, weren’t enough to complete the look I was going for. Other than the bodysuit, it was the link of the metal textures between the makeup bad acting as a clutch and choker that really brought it together. The velvet blue against them made everything pop, as a perfect complimentary opposite to my hair and (vaguely) tanned arms – and of course, I couldn’t forget my trusty hand-me-down Jacket from my mum. If there’s one thing velvet does not agree with it would be rain.

This outfit took quite a lot for me to wear outside, that’s not to say I didn’t like the item- just that I don’t usually feel comfortable showing so much skin. After looking at the size chart and measuring I chose a size S, however, I feel like I probably should have sized up. Though the adjustable straps helped with the size issue.

I love all of the items in Pamela’s collection and it was so hard to choose just one item to write about but I’m so glad I chose this one. Thank you so much to Hunkemöller for sending me these items to do a post.

Oh I really like that, I used to have a few camisoles I wore as tops, no reason why pretty things should stay covered up!
