My birthday is coming up and with that, a trip back up to the Midlands. I will, without a doubt, be paying a visit to my beloved Forever 21 during this trip and so decided to have a quick peek online to see what they currently have in stock.
and with that, I introduce to you the first of many… CURRENTLY COVETING. A series where I share with you items that I really really want, a wishlist of sorts. Together we can pine over clothes and accessories we don’t really need but oh so want.
With this set of items, I have tried to make sure that each item can go with at least another item. Bringing that capsule wardrobe thinking in – so to say.
I wasn’t really looking for dresses but the first item I fell in love with just so happened to be a dress and well, from there on I just kept finding dresses. At first glance, I thought the Contemporary Lace-Up Maxi Dress was a jumpsuit. It intrigued me. I was a little disappointed upon clicking on it to find that it was instead a dress but I still liked it. Maxi dresses have a use all year round and one as cute as this? I couldn’t pass up that opportunity.
The Mineral Wash Mini Dress and Contemporary Chambray Dress are items that at their base I would wear with a heartbeat but both have little twists. The Mineral Wash Dress has a T-Shirt dress feel to it but has a cutout that is quite popular right now while the Chambray Dress contains my favourite material – denim.
I’ve found myself drifting towards more simple – yet still eye-catching – pieces of jewellery such as these Square Hoop Earrings which I feel fit the mood of all three of these dresses.
Back in May, my friend asked me to help out with a uni project of hers, none of my clothes fit what she was trying to go for so she ended up lending me a shirt of hers. It was a lot like the Pinstripe Lantern Sleeve Shirt. When I saw this I knew I had to get it. The opportunities are endless for this shirt.. much like the Ribbed Knit Turtleneck Top. Jumper season is upon us and I couldn’t resist adding at least one jumper to this list. This is an item that I’d definitely want to buy in-store so I could see if I needed to size up to get the fit I want but apart from that I completely love it. I can see it going really well with the frayed crop flare jeans below.
The Plunging Cami Bodysuit is perhaps not the most season conscious piece for this time of year however it is quite pretty and would work well for layering or freezing in the name of fashion on a night out. Plus I really love the colour.
Now, if there’s something that I don’t really need more of in my wardrobe its denim jackets. I bought a bunch during one of my vintage shop trips to Paris but this Oversized Patch Denim Jacket is unlike anything else I own. It has a nice vibe to it.
Cropped trousers are really something I’m loving right now, I can’t really explain why though. These Pinstripe Culottes give me huge Chloe Plumstead vibes – and her style is one that I usually just admire from Instagram, however, I’m starting to become a little more adventurous with my style and a step in the Chloe direction is not one that I am against.
The Black Frayed Cropped and Blue Distressed Cropped jeans perhaps also come from Chloe as an inspiration. I’ve never really been one to play around with jeans but they really caught my eye. I’m so intrigued by them. My mind is full of outfits that they could be part of. Jumpers.. crop tops.. there isn’t really anything I can see that wouldn’t go with them!
And that brings us to the Longline Boucle Wrap Coat. I’m not really a coat person, nor have I ever been, but it kinda reminds me of a dressing gown and on some level that makes me almost love it. After the success of my green cardigan from H&M I’m more willing to take chances with things this length.. but for this price? I’m torn.
I decided to try and keep it simple with accessories. I love that the Sheer Crew Lattice and Lace-Up Ankle Socks are still a thing. They’re perfect for taking summer shoes (such as strappy heels) and wearing throughout autumn. I included the Sheer Tote Bag as a #throwback to when those kind of bags were all the rage in Harajuku and I couldn’t get my hands on them for the life of me and the Crossbody Pebbled Bucket Bag as it looked interesting and I don’t really have a bag like this.
The Faux Leather Ring Crossbody Bag is slightly odd and it looks better on the model than it does the stock image but it has a charm to it – and my current small black bag is breaking.
So that concludes my first ever wish list / Currently Coveting post.
